How to Get Your Kids to Eat Healthy - Part 3
It seems like it is a never ending struggle to get your kids to eat healthy. 🥦 They don’t always like the food you make and they can be downright picky when it comes to trying new things. But, there are a few tricks that will help you out with this problem. It's not easy, but with these tips you can start seeing some progress in the right direction!
PART 3: Smaller Portions, Healthier Habits - Teaching Kids to Eat Mindfully🍎
As parents, we all want our kids to eat well and grow strong. 💪 But when it comes to portion sizes, less can actually be more. Serving smaller portions of nutritious foods can help children eat at a slower, healthier pace—and learn to listen to their body’s natural hunger cues.
Young children, especially, are still learning how to recognize when they’re full. When we serve them large portions and tell them to “finish everything on their plate,” they may feel pressure to eat more than they need. This can lead to habits like eating too quickly or ignoring their own sense of fullness.
➡️ By offering smaller portions, we give kids the chance to pause, enjoy their food, and decide if they want more. It’s okay if they ask for seconds—this means they’re still hungry and making that choice themselves! Over time, this helps children develop better self-regulation when it comes to eating.
You can also use smaller plates and bowls to make meals feel more manageable. And remember, kids don’t need adult-sized servings—start small, and let them ask for more if they’re still hungry.
Teaching kids to eat slowly and mindfully is one of the best habits you can pass on for a lifetime of healthy eating.❤️
